As an Activity Aide at Heritage Woods of South Elgin, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through engaging activities and compassionate interaction. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the company van on organized outings, ensuring that residents have the opportunity to participate in community events and activities that align with their interests. You will also conduct interviews with residents upon admission to gather information about their likes and dislikes, which will help tailor the activity programs to their preferences. In addition to driving and interviewing, you will document residents' participation in daily activities, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of their engagement levels. You will be responsible for developing a monthly activity calendar that reflects the interests and needs of the residents, ensuring a diverse range of activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation. Managing a budget and inventory list for activity equipment and supplies will also be part of your duties, requiring organizational skills and attention to detail. Evaluating the overall effectiveness of the activity program is crucial, and you will have the opportunity to modify the program as necessary to better meet the residents' needs and interests. You will coordinate the Community newsletter, ensuring that residents are informed and engaged with upcoming activities. Additionally, you will facilitate a resident council to gather input on the activity program, fostering a sense of community and involvement among residents. Your role will also involve coordinating shopping orders for residents who are unable to shop independently, ensuring that their needs are met.
