About The Position

The Systems Administrator will manage classified and unclassified networks across multiple operating system platforms, primarily focusing on Windows and UNIX systems. This role involves specifying, designing, implementing, and testing network and computer system configurations, ensuring security compliance, and addressing system performance issues. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to support the development and maintenance of critical electronic systems for space control missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • 1+ year of experience administering computer systems and networks
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense Top Secret security clearances
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented with ability to interact with others respectfully and develop productive working relationships
  • Ability to create documentation on systems to satisfy certification, technical staff, and end users
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with desktop level hardware and software applications like Office, Adobe, OS Imaging (i.e. kickstart or Microsoft Deployment Toolkit), BitLocker, and LUKS
  • Experience with security plans, procedures, and compliance with DoD Mandate 8570.1-M
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as perl, python, C/C++, and scripting language
  • Work experience in mission critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Specify, design, implement, and test network and computer system configurations and upgrades
  • Implement security measures in accordance with government and Laboratory policies
  • Identify system performance issues and user needs to recommend specific changes and upgrades
  • Perform data backups and recoveries
  • Assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks
  • Research and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements
  • Renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service
  • Interact with vendors, Security, laboratory personnel, and other system administrators to coordinate procurements, installations, upgrades, and other services.
