About The Position

The PIT Operator is responsible for setting up evisceration areas and providing supplies such as pallet liners and cardboard. Removing totes with product and transfer them to the cooler or to shipping depending on the product. Must have PIT or forklift operating experience.

Requirements

  • Must have PIT or forklift operating experience.
  • Proper PPE usage: The employee should be aware of the required personal protective equipment (Eye Protection, Hearing Protection).
  • Power Industrial Truck classroom and practical training.
  • Stretching exercises and how they relate to muscle fatigue.

Responsibilities

  • Set up Evisceration areas as required.
  • Complete the Pallet jack or forklift inspection sheet before use.
  • Transfer tote bins with product to the scale to register weight.
  • Maintain evisceration with enough supplies to run.
  • Bring totes with ice to the parts salvage area.
  • Bring one tote with CO2 (dry ice) to the gizzard area.
  • Follow our Company GMP policy.
  • Do not get closer than 5' feet to the birds without a smock on.
  • Do not take a smock inside the bathroom, or outside the plant, hang your smock on the hooks in the department.
  • Ensure the object being transported is centered on the pallet jack or forklift.
  • Report any unsafe condition on the Pallet jack or forklift.
  • Make sure the pallet jack is clean after use.
  • Ensure pallets are cleaned before bringing them into the production area.
  • Stack pallets no higher than 6 high maximum.
  • Do not block emergency eye wash stations, emergency exits, or doorways.
  • Honk your horn when traveling through doorways, corners, blind spots or congested areas.
