About The Position

The Assistant Principal will assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations. This role includes coordinating assigned student activities and services, ensuring effective instructional strategies are implemented, and promoting a positive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree.
  • Texas assistant principal or other appropriate Texas certificate.
  • Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System (T-TESS) appraiser.
  • Two years experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Thorough understanding of school operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with teachers to ensure effective instructional strategies are implemented.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs.
  • Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans.
  • Help the principal develop and maintain information systems to track campus performance.
  • Observe employee performance and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  • Supervise operations in the principal's absence.
  • Help plan daily school activities and schedules.
  • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
  • Compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  • Ensure students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  • Help develop a student discipline management system.
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Participate in professional development to improve job-related skills.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
