About The Position

The Early Childhood Lead Teacher at the Gerner Family Early Education Center is responsible for creating a developmentally appropriate educational environment for young children. This role involves overseeing classroom operations, interacting with children, communicating with parents, and supervising associate teachers. The position emphasizes the importance of fostering a safe and engaging atmosphere that meets the diverse needs of students.

Requirements

  • Degree in early childhood/elementary education or related area, or equivalent training or experience.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability and willingness to supervise associate teachers.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development as required by program policy and accreditation criteria.
  • Ability to lift 65 pounds to waist level on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a friendly and safe environment that encourages exploration and meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both individuals and groups.
  • Interact appropriately with students and encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Create daily lesson plans with associate teachers based on approved objectives.
  • Establish and maintain good written and verbal communication with parents through newsletters and scheduled conferences.
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior, and report other program needs to appropriate individuals.
  • Use developmentally appropriate practices and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate associate teachers, keeping them informed of program goals and developments.
  • Prepare materials and paperwork as required by program needs.
  • Demonstrate compliance with Accreditation Criteria.

Benefits

  • $1.00 per hour bonus paid twice a year on January 15th and June 15th.
