About the position

The Principal Researcher delivers best-in-class insights across Mindbody’s B2B and B2C products. This role communicates key insights, analytics, and strategic opportunities to stakeholders in order to develop a vision for the future of our product. Working across large initiatives and business units, this role helps to identify, design, and conduct research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. Through analyzing findings and delivering compelling insights, this role has a strong influence on our product roadmap across the entire product lifecycle, from early roadmap planning, to experience design refinement, to post-release validation.  

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in psychology, sociology, physical or social sciences required.  Additional coursework or post-secondary education in human factors, HCI, user research, user-centered design, etc. a big plus. 7+ years of experience working as a Researcher, or doing experimental design, data handling & analysis, statistics, and/or qualitative analysis.
  • Additional coursework or post-secondary education in human factors, HCI, user research, user-centered design, etc. a big plus. 
  • 7+ years of experience working as a Researcher, or doing experimental design, data handling & analysis, statistics, and/or qualitative analysis. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, organizational and communication skills with all levels of organization. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a bias for action, owner mentality, and tenacity. 
  • Experience using core qualitative research methods (In-Depth Interviews, Concept Testing, Diary Studies) in an industry setting.  
  • Experience using complex survey methodologies (e.g., Conjoint, Min-max) and statistical analysis (e.g., T-Tests) in an industry setting.  
  • Portfolio or examples of past projects focusing on thoughtful methodology selection and impactful, tangible outcomes.

  

Responsibilities

  • Act as the research and insights advocate to inform our product and company strategy.  
  • Own product outcomes for a wide scope of business and product goals for our customers. 
  • Champion relationships and build strategic vision with cross-functional partners across Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, and Business Insights teams. 
  • Partner with stakeholders to inform product goals and identify areas where UX research can provide greater insight and impact. 
  • Ensure all research study results are actionable and contribute directly towards meeting project and business goals. 
  • Lead teams in using data to establish key metrics for projects; identify gaps where impactful data is needed to solve meaningful problems.  
  • Examine analytics data to inform research strategy and qualitative insights.  
  • Using a breadth of research methodologies that include in-person, remote, moderated, unmoderated research, market, and secondary research. 
  • Plan, run, and execute large surveys with the ability to understand and speak to the statistical significance of the results.  
  • Mentor other researchers on the team to champion team growth and increase team impact.
