About the position

Away is a global lifestyle brand with a mission to transform travel through products and content that inspire people to get away more. In support of our mission, we are seeking a **Quality Assurance and Testing Manager - Softlines **to join our Quality team. 
We believe in being intentional about our approach to modern work. Our hybrid model drives our commitment to fostering an environment that empowers, enables and supports our workforce to do their best work with in-person moments that matter. This role reports to the Director of Quality Assurance and will require a weekly in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, textile, or scientific discipline
  • A minimum of 4 years of full-time, professional experience relevant to the role
  • Supervises multiple processes and projects simultaneously, continually scaling and improving with cross-functional partners
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, organized and efficient, precise.
  • Knowledge of consumer product safety compliance such as EU/REACH, California Prop 65, Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act and/or global regulation is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to perform statistical analysis on data sets
  • Technical writing skills is a plus
  • Ability to deal effectively with time pressures, stress, and changing demands of the job on a regular basis.
  • Able to travel internationally and domestically (up to 25%)
  • Team player with a "no task is too small" attitude
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Passionate about transforming travel (but that’s a given!)

Responsibilities

  • Leads new component and new material qualification that includes testing protocol development, testing procedure selection, and managing sample submission with third party labs. 
  • Design testing methods for new materials, products, or processes.
  • Provide data review of the laboratory results and interpret reports to non-technical functions.   
  • Responsible for continuous product improvement and critical customer complaint investigations. Monitor consumer complaint metrics and investigates customer quality issues and complaints, communicates directly with external and internal partners for solution.
  • Performs continuous quality analysis of uncommon material behavior or testing results
  • Write and update QC testing reports, test methods and/or SOPs.
  • Apply statistical techniques to procure components samples and experiment design for product evaluation and/or troubleshooting.
  • Support resolution of manufacturing deviations, root cause investigations, impact assessments and corrective action/preventive actions.
  • Champion the use of quality tools, metrics, and data to identify and drive quality improvement projects across all suppliers resulting in the overall improvement of the product and packaging.
  • Drive quality control validation process including company’s quality system self- assessment, factory assessment of continuous improvement and annual report on product compliance.
  • Support multiple aspects of compliance for the Quality System such as product safety, sustainability of product and packaging, social responsibility and/or as required.
