About the position
Aptos is seeking a hands-on software engineer with expertise in networking, consensus protocols, parallel execution, storage, authenticated data structures, and/or caching. The role involves designing and building core backend software components primarily using Rust, as well as working on complex engineering challenges to scale up performance and reduce transaction latency. The successful candidate will contribute to a highly visible open-source project and will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software engineering practices and principles. The base salary range for this full-time position is $180k - $300k.
Responsibilities
- Designing core, backend software components and coding primarily using Rust to support a blockchain and its ecosystem of systems
- Building, testing, debugging, and deploying large-scale decentralized systems across thousands of nodes
- Working with file systems, execution engines, programming language design, and consensus protocols to address engineering challenges such as scaling up performance and reducing transaction latency
- Developing and maintaining high-quality software engineering practices and principles in an open-source project
- Having 3 years (ideally 5+ years) of experience as a hands-on software engineer
- Having expertise in networking, consensus protocols, parallel execution, storage, authenticated data structures, and/or caching
- Having experience with a low-level programming language such as Rust, Go, Swift, or C/C++
