Senior Combat Designer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Combat Designer to join our award-winning game development team at Turtle Rock Studios. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing intuitive mechanics that enhance the player's experience and replayability. Collaborating closely with the Design Director and other disciplines, you will contribute to creating an innovative and engaging AAA combat experience for our players. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in combat systems, weapon design, and class design, and will be passionate about creating an awesome player experience.

• Work closely with the Design Director and team to develop combat systems ensuring fun and gratifying player experiences.
• Create unforgettable moments by collaborating with Art, Animation, Programming, VFX, and Audio team members.
• Design and develop combat gameplay, including player movement, controls, and camera from concept to completion, with a focus on how combat gameplay feels against AI and other players.
• Developing, maintaining, and polishing game controller experience.
• Work directly with our weapons team to perfect the player's weapon experience. Every experience should be fun! Combat gameplay should feel exhilarating!
• Conceptualize, develop, and maintain player weapons.
• Work with the maps team to ensure mission layouts and gameplay synergizes with the player combat loop.
• Curate and maintain game documentation for owned features.
• Be open to feedback and participate in open discussions regarding game mechanics and balance.

• 5+ years of experience in game development with one or more shipped titles on multiple platforms
• Love of games: specifically FPS, Co-op, and Multiplayer games
• Extensive experience building combat systems for player weaponry and enemies
• Extensive experience controller development
• A strong interest in creating an awesome player experience
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively
