About the position

The Chief Technology Officer position at Foundry offers an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering cryptocurrency company dedicated to advancing decentralized infrastructure. As a key member of the senior management team, the CTO will manage a growing team of engineers and drive a culture of innovation and technological advancement. The role involves developing the company's technical strategy, implementing best practices, and ensuring alignment with business goals. The CTO will also be responsible for building a strong engineering culture, mentoring the team, and staying informed about market trends and competitors. This position offers the chance to be part of a small, entrepreneurial group backed by a leading player in the crypto space.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 10+ cross functional product and platform teams, driving a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and technological advancement
  • Provide visionary leadership to both the Product and Engineering org
  • Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Implement best practices and guidelines to continually improve performance, scalability and security
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Monitor KPIs to assess product and technological performance
  • Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to our products and technology platform
  • Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors
  • Help to build out, mentor, and develop the engineering team and build a strong engineering culture
  • Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
  • Lead the evolution of our SDLC
  • Proactively stay informed about market trends, opportunities, risks, new projects, and competitors
  • Knowledge of large scale distributed systems
  • Experience operating in a SOC compliant environment
  • Ability to architect and enhance a data platform that consists of event streams, data lakes, ETL tooling, and dashboard/reporting
  • Strong people management, developing, and mentoring skills
  • Well-versed in current technological trends
  • Experience with Software Product Life Cycles
  • Experience working in a startup - high sense of urgency, ambiguous environment - is a plus
  • Some understanding of token economics and incentive models is a plus
  • Experience with cloud environments
  • Experience running and managing high availability infrastructure
  • Experience running and managing bare metal infrastructure within our own data centers
  • Data driven managing of team performance DORA metrics (or similar) Experience in operating mining, staking, or running validating node efforts is a plus
  • Automate deployment, validation, and quality control processes across our entire company
  • Build services and infrastructure that help to automate the deployment of blockchain network infrastructure
  • Experience leading capacity planning
  • Knowledge of data protection, recovery, failover procedures
  • Experience in containerizing modern applications such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ability to implement and administer network infrastructure to servers
  • Experience interfacing with custom hardware and firmware is a plus
  • Deep technical expertise and insight; knowledgeable and curious
  • Passionate about leading high performing teams and driving positive culture
  • Proactive self-starter with a solutions-focused, positive attitude
  • Team player, willing to pitch in wherever needed
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful
  • Reliable time management skills and method for tracking objectives and tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort adapting to changing situations and priorities with a high sense of accountability and urgency
  • Appreciation of input and candid feedback

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a CTO, VP of Engineering, or similar leadership role, preferably with a financial services or tech company
  • Knowledge of large scale distributed systems
  • Experience operating in a SOC compliant environment
  • Ability to architect and enhance a data platform that consists of event streams, data lakes, ETL tooling, and dashboard/reporting
  • Passionate about technology and interested in Bitcoin and blockchain
  • Strong people management, developing, and mentoring skills
  • Well-versed in current technological trends
  • Experience with Software Product Life Cycles
