Orthopedic Spine Surgeon (Chicago, IL)

Genesis Orthopedics & Sports MedicineChicago, IL
Onsite

About The Position

Genesis was built as the antidote to the systemic challenges that make practicing spine surgery difficult. We are a full-spectrum MSK platform with 16 clinics across Chicagoland, offering care from surgery through physical therapy, and serving patients from Medicaid to private pay. Our spine patient population is high-volume, underserved, and seeking a surgeon who will take the time to treat them correctly. Genesis was founded on the conviction that surgery is a last resort, not a revenue strategy. You'll have the clinical infrastructure to exhaust conservative care first – physical therapy, injections, imaging, pain management – and the surgical volume to back it up when the case actually calls for it. Day one, you'll have a full case load, supported by 1-3 APPs. This is a partnership-track role with real equity potential for a surgeon who wants to build, not just practice.

Requirements

  • BC/BE in orthopedic surgery with fellowship training in spine.
  • Licensed in Illinois or eligible.
  • Belief in conservative care first for spine pathology.
  • Comfortable with the full spectrum of spine surgery, from cervical to lumbar, decompression to complex reconstruction, primary to revision.
  • Ability to think in systems and understand the coordination required for spine patients (imaging, PT, pain management, surgical planning, post-op rehab).
  • Mission-aligned with providing accessible and excellent care to all patients, regardless of income.
  • Desire for equity and partnership, not just a salary.

  • Treat trauma cases, including vertebral fractures, instability, and cord injury.
  • Evaluate and surgically manage tumors and infections of the spine.
  • Perform motion preservation and disc replacement procedures.
  • Access and contribute to Genesis's clinical trial infrastructure.
  • Participate in product development opportunities.
  • Contribute to research that advances spine surgery.
