About the position

The Wild Animal Safari education staff operates daily bus tours at the park. The Zoo Education staff member will understand and be able to communicate the animal species and "fun facts" about the animals and exhibits during the daily Drive-Thru Safari bus tours, and during the Walkabout Adventure Zoo education events, with occasional outside animal safari presentations to schools and civic groups.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily bus tours at the park.
• Communicate animal species and fun facts during tours and events.
• Present educational programs to schools and civic groups.
• Drive a school bus on private property.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age or older
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Pass a pre-employment drug test after offer of employment is made
• Hold a valid Driver's License
• A Texas Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver's License is preferred
• Ability to drive a school bus on private property is essential to this position
• Full-time applicants must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and/or holidays, 32-40 hours a week
• Part time applicants must be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week and be available weekends
• Ability to learn details of all animal species at the park and fun facts about those animals is essential to this position
• Passion for educating the public on conservation and animal welfare is preferred

Benefits

• Entry level admissions/retail employee base rate is $9.00
• Entry level zookeeper base pay rate is $10.00 and up depending on experience
• Entry Level education staff / bus drivers base pay rate is $10.00 and up depending on experience
• Entry level maintenance positions base pay rate is $11.00-$13.00 and up depending on experience and part-time/full-time status
