About the position

The Youth Development Professional/Assist Dance Coach is responsible for providing academic and cultural enrichment opportunities for members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend. This part-time role focuses on promoting positive life skills, engaging youth in various activities such as art, sports, music, and dance, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. The position requires collaboration with club staff and community providers to enhance the overall experience for members.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend positively to potential and current members, parents, and the community.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of educational resources and techniques.
  • Communicate with administrative offices to improve service levels.
  • Encourage understanding and acceptance of diversity among members and staff.
  • Create engaging learning opportunities for all members.
  • Arrive on time and prepared to deliver educational and social services.
  • Maintain communication with the Club Director regarding absences and maintain a Substitute Folder.
  • Coordinate schedules and activities with community providers.
  • Develop and submit weekly/daily lesson plans to the Club Director.
  • Record and submit member attendance daily.
  • Plan a variety of enrichment activities that expose members to art, culture, and academics.
  • Inventory and maintain art, music, and craft supplies.
  • Assist in developing each member's Individual Learning Plan.
  • Work to increase enrollment and parental involvement at the Club site.
  • Establish and enforce Club Norms and Expectations for members and staff.
  • Confront and de-escalate negative behaviors among members and staff.
  • Maintain visual awareness of all members during programs and activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma, some college preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in teaching music, art, or dance, or in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in implementing academic and cultural activities for youth.
  • Ability to serve as a role model and leader to members.
  • Strong commitment to youth and families and belief in their potential.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating creative learning programs.
  • Knowledge in dance, choreography, or music is a plus.
