As a Youth Detention Security Officer - Checkpoint in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • A current DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, access control protocols, and/or emergency response activities appropriate to a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and credentials, and help to control access for employees, visitors, contractors, and/or authorized personnel.
  • Screen visitors, deliveries, and property according to site policies, document activity, and report unusual incidents or policy violations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations with professionalism, following post orders and communicating with site contacts and public agencies as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter to help to identify security-related concerns, unauthorized activity, and/or maintenance issues.
