The foundation is in the public phase of a historic campaign to raise $3 billion to build a better future for Nebraska. The campaign is being led by many enthusiastic volunteers representing all areas of the University of Nebraska System. This position will be based in our Lincoln office and will require occasional work over nonbusiness hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or public relations.
  • 5+ years of experience in writing and editing.
  • Excellent writing and editing storytelling skills.
  • Ability to distill complex information into content that is engaging and understandable.
  • Ability to work with managers and employees of all levels.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Candidates will also be evaluated on our core values of passion for mission, integrity, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit copy for internal and external audiences and write and execute communication plans.
  • Produce a weekly internal newsletter and manage content for internal digital information boards.
  • Send emergency alerts regarding office closures due to weather or other emergencies.
  • During a crisis, serve as the internal communications coordinator.
  • Occasionally coordinate and work foundation events.
  • Support public relations efforts by writing news releases, assisting with our four campus giving days, capturing event photos and video, and drafting event scripts.
