About the position
The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWON) at Mercy San Juan Medical Center is responsible for developing and coordinating the hospital's Ostomy care program. This role involves working in the outpatient wound care department and assisting with complex inpatient wound and ostomy patients. The CWON establishes standards of care, provides education to patients and staff, and collaborates with the medical staff to ensure comprehensive wound care. The position is part-time and offers a competitive hourly wage.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate the hospital's Ostomy care program.
- Work in the outpatient wound care department and assist with complex inpatient wound/ostomy patients.
- Establish standards of care and clinical competencies to meet patient needs.
- Provide education to patients, caregivers, and staff on wound, ostomy, and continence care.
- Collaborate with the medical staff to ensure comprehensive wound care.
Requirements
- Current Wound Care Certified (WCC) required.
- Current CA RN license and AHA BLS certification.
- BSN degree.
- 2 years RN experience in an acute care setting in the last 5 years, or 3 years RN experience in a clinic or subacute setting within the last 5 years.
- Within 24 months of hire, obtain Wound Ostomy and Continence Certification (WOCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN).
- Good written presentation and computer skills.
