About the position

The Wound Care Nurse plays a vital role in the healthcare team, specializing in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with complex wounds. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse who can provide high-quality care to patients while collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The Wound Care Nurse will utilize their expertise in wound healing and infection control to develop individualized care plans that promote optimal recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' wounds and overall health status.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based wound care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Monitor wound healing progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and self-management practices.
  • Maintain accurate medical records documenting patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with complex needs.
  • Stay informed about advancements in wound care technology and treatment options.
  • Provide support for patients with infectious diseases and those requiring airway management when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including workers' compensation law.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license in the State
  • Strong knowledge of physiology related to wound healing processes.
  • Familiarity with medical records systems for accurate documentation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; advanced certifications are a plus.
  • Understanding of infectious disease care protocols is essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team environment while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting focused on wound care or related fields is highly desirable.
