About the position

The Employment Services Coordinator position at Cuesta College supports both the San Luis Obispo campus and the North County Campus in Paso Robles. This role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing programs in Career Connections and Work Experience, providing assistance and specialized information for work experience, internships, and career services. The position requires planning, organizing, and coordinating programs in Workforce Economic Development, Career Connections, and Internships, while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate career services for the college, including the daily schedule and operations of Career Connections.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Cooperative Work Experience program.
  • Serve as liaison with employers for job postings and placements, internships, career pathways, and labor market and workforce information.
  • Maintain, update and utilize a job bank database, in collaboration with other campus and county job-placement programs.
  • Develop resources and tools on job search techniques, job search portfolio elements, and career exploration.
  • Present information on job search techniques, career exploration, and employment opportunities to students and community members.
  • Provide mentoring related to work-readiness development and job search portfolio development.
  • Develop placements for paid and/or unpaid work experience, work study, internships, and community service.
  • Facilitate processes for Work Study placements, including contracts, hiring, timesheets, and payroll.
  • Compile and analyze labor market and skills gap data to assist programmatic decision-making.
  • Lead the process of updating the Employment Panel Training List for new and existing courses.
  • Establish and coordinate the Career Connections/Cooperative Work Experience Employer Advisory Committee.
  • Maintain compliance with Title V, California Code of Regulations, and district policies.
  • Oversee marketing of career and employment services and programs.
  • Monitor, update and maintain student enrollment records and activities.
  • Oversee reporting, including data collection and timely submission of reports.
  • Monitor program operation budget accounts and expenditures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and advisory committees.
  • Promote positive relationships in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years working in an instructional setting, such as career services or vocational guidance.
  • One (1) year of related experience in providing services and training in career exploration and job search processes.
