About The Position

FieldWrk is a specialized branding and marketing agency dedicated to serving essential industries. The WordPress Web Developer's mission is to build and maintain impactful, user-friendly, and well-built websites for the agency's clients. This role involves using detailed Figma mockups and UI systems to custom-code websites and new functionality, ensuring they meet technical needs, share client stories, create business opportunities, and attract new talent. The developer will work closely with the Director of Web Development to maintain coding standards, keep code repositories updated, and deliver simple, clean, and easy-to-maintain websites. Responsibilities also include populating and managing website content (images, videos, copy, metadata, custom post types), ensuring the technical functionality and health of hosted websites, and conducting periodic QA processes. Examples of recently launched websites are provided for reference.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience coding custom Wordpress websites
  • Expert knowledge of Advanced Custom Fields Wordpress plugin
  • Expert in HTML/CSS/jQuery/PHP
  • Very proficient using the Bootstrap framework
  • Knowledge of GitHub or similar code-versioning tool
  • Proficient use of Figma
  • Willing to work a standard 40 hour work week remotely
  • Available during CST hours (9 AM-5 PM CT)
  • Willing to learn and code to company standards.
  • Quick, efficient, and detail-oriented when developing custom Wordpress websites.
  • Strong visual eye that allows you to create beautiful websites based off detailed design mockups.
  • Makes it a priority to build custom websites that are easy to use by non-code people.
  • Realistic with time management.
  • Asks for help when needed, asks questions when confused, and states when they don't know an answer.
  • Cares about code quality, making it pretty, using proper spacing, aligning elements, and consistent syntax.
  • Good communicator, thorough in explanations, and avoids technical jargon with non-technical people.
  • Likes to maintain a simple file structure and use standard/tried and true languages.
  • Agrees with a minimal-plugin approach to Wordpress websites.
  • Strong desire to make a positive impact for hardworking industries and the clients served.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WPEngine is a plus
  • Experience with Gravity Forms Wordpress plugin is a plus
  • Experience working with ATS systems (XML feeds/API) is a plus
  • Graphic design experience is a plus (we need a developer with a visual eye)

Responsibilities

  • Develop new websites using custom Wordpress themes with simple file structures (no compilers).
  • Use Figma for reference and assets.
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing websites.
  • Develop new features for existing websites.
  • Utilize Figma and Photoshop to ensure all imagery is web-ready and populate into websites.
  • Utilize Figma and Adobe Illustrator to adjust graphics as needed for web.
  • Copy-paste and reformat copy into websites.
  • Maintain GitHub code repositories for 50+ websites with multiple team members.
  • Monitor and resolve issues with hosted websites utilizing services such as WPEngine and WP Remote.
  • Properly use development/production environments with multiple active branches.
  • Adhere to all company coding standards and best practices.
