About the position

The Wireless Technician (Level 2) is responsible for a variety of field activities related to the installation, maintenance, and servicing of wireless telecommunications equipment. This role requires collaboration with other technicians in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, focusing on various projects and tasks related to wireless systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, test, repair, remove or retrofit various wireless systems including rooftop macro, pole mount macro and small cells, indoor distributed antenna systems (IDAS) and outdoor distributed antenna systems (ODAS)
  • Install vertical/horizontal cabling
  • Determine and pull best path routes
  • Adhere to coax and fiber installation standards
  • Perform PPC compression tool kit installation
  • Read blueprints and construction drawings
  • Install antennas including rooftop, racks, radio(s), and remote units
  • Head end rack and component installation
  • Label coax cables, antennas, head ends, cable management
  • Power cabling and grounding of head end/active equipment
  • Operate a lift and/or bucket truck

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of field installation experience
  • Experience reading blueprints or construction drawings
  • Experience in cable and/or hardware installation
  • Experience with hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with PIM and sweep testing equipment
  • Experience with outdoor installation such as rooftop cell sites, satellites, cable TV installation, or tower/microwaves
  • Ability to work at heights up to 70 ft on ladders, lifts, or similar equipment
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external contacts
  • Valid driver's license and insurable under company insurance policy

Nice-to-haves

  • Wireless industry experience preferred
  • Experience with DAS, small cell, macro OEM installation
  • Ability to commute to Chicago, IL
