About the position

The Longview School District has an opening for Head Bowling Girls Coach at Mark Morris High School for the Winter Season. This is a contract position with a stipend ranging from $5462 (Step 1) to $5907 (Step 2) upon completing 30 hours of coaching education.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of modern trends, techniques, strategies, playing rules, and procedures.
  • Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
  • Program development and evaluation; must have goals for improvement of total district and school athletic programs.
  • Know current health and safety practices including proper care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop and implement a safety plan that includes teaching of the proper techniques and fundamentals.
  • Adhere to all safety rules.
  • Has emergency medical plan in place.
  • Relate to staff members in a professional and effective manner.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, and at season's end, analyze staff effectiveness.
  • Train and inform staff and encourage professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance.
  • Responsible for league, team and individual statistics.
  • Adhere to scheduled facility times.
  • Provide for the recording of equipment inventory records, equipment issue, cleaning and repairing or existing equipment and ordering new equipment.
  • Provide for attendance, safety, playing, injury/training room, and discipline and performance records.
  • Instill in each player a respect for care and proper use of equipment and school property.
  • Inform parents of individual players regarding attendance, discipline, and injury.
  • Communicate and cooperate with the news media, booster club, service groups, and the business community.
  • Develop community support for the bowling program.
  • Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship with athletes, peers, and the public (particularly at sporting events).
  • Maintain contact with players during off season.
  • Motivate players.
  • Keep players informed of camps, summer programs, etc. available.
  • Teach and discipline in a consistent and equitable manner.
  • Adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies.
  • Implement team rules in accordance with the policies and regulations listed above.
  • Advise the Athletic Director and recommend policy method, or procedural changes.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Attendance at bowling clinics within the past four years.
  • Current first aid card or district approved athletic injury/sports medicine training.
  • Must have a current driver's license and be able to obtain a Type II driver's license.
  • Prior successful high school bowling coaching experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer an applicant who has participated in bowling at the collegiate level.
