Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3–5 years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work within established quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills – ability to clearly understand instructions and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Interpersonal skills – ability to work closely with others in a team-based environment where coordination and cooperation are critical
  • Problem-solving ability – able to identify issues with materials, coatings, or equipment and take appropriate corrective action
  • Decision-making skills – able to make sound, timely decisions to maintain workflow and quality standards
  • Basic computer skills – ability to operate and navigate computerized equipment and systems used in the painting process
  • Basic math skills – ability to accurately measure, mix, and calculate ratios for primers and coatings
  • Reading and comprehension skills – ability to read work orders, specifications, safety guidelines, and product instructions
  • Mechanical aptitude – understanding of equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Physical coordination and teamwork – ability to safely handle large metal components with team members, including lifting, positioning, and staging parts for processing
  • Time management and reliability – ability to stay on task, meet production goals, and maintain consistent workflow

Responsibilities

  • Properly mask, cover, and protect surfaces that will not be painted
  • Mix and this all primers and topcoats following the SOP training manual for proper application of mixing paint
  • Perform and recognize proper substrate preparation
  • Follow all safety rules and requirements
  • Apply primers and topcoats using airless spray equipment to meet quality standards
  • Apply stripe coats of primer to designated areas according to the SOP training manual
  • Identify non-compliant work and take corrective action to meet specifications
  • Apply touch-up to finished pieces as necessary
  • Clean and maintain spray equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Follow all quality control hold points and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
