About the position

This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment that contributes to the wellfield production and efficiency. The employee will be assigned prioritized tasks to achieve production and efficiency goals, ensuring the proper functioning of wellfield systems.

Responsibilities

• Visually and manually inspects wellfield mechanical equipment.
• Remove and replace submersible well pumps and motors.
• Remove and/or repair all wellhead related equipment, meters, valves, transmitters, fittings, and plumbing.
• Operate various instruments and related equipment to attain required wellfield data.
• Use various hand-held tools, power tools, and air tools in the repair and maintenance of wellfield systems.
• May operate heavy equipment and machinery such as all-terrain forklifts, front-end loaders, pulling units, and hose reels depending on the assignment.
• Perform mechanical integrity tests (MIT) on new and existing wells using specialized equipment (MIT truck).
• Maintain supplies needed to complete related tasks, including tool inventory and equipment applicable to assignment.
• Perform and record maintenance duties, compiling all required data to assist in permit compliance.
• Adhere to established schedules/guidelines for preventative maintenance and repair, safety policy, and procedure; maintain professionalism and quality control.
• Assist with periodic wellfield leak detection.
• Assist in maintenance on DDW systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
• High school diploma/GED.
• Knowledge of the practices and materials utilized in the repair and maintenance of water wells and/or wellfield operating systems.
• Ability to provide basic oral and written communications detailing work performed.
• Ability to use computer and/or tablet for basic functions.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Strong planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
