About the position

The Lead Welding Instructor will teach all levels of workforce development welding courses and will provide oversight and guidance for welding staff, instruction, and coordination for all current and future VPCC welding courses. This position is also responsible for revising course content as needed, instructional consistency, instructor training, procurement and engagement with employer partners. This is a full-time restricted classified position. Continuation of employment is based on funding availability.
Responsibilities
- Teach all levels of workforce development welding courses.
- Provide oversight and guidance for welding staff.
- Coordinate all current and future VPCC welding courses.
- Revise course content as needed.
- Ensure instructional consistency.
- Train instructors.
- Procure and engage with employer partners.
Requirements
- Extensive experience using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
- Some experience as a pipe welder.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching or training in a professional or academic setting.
- Extensive relevant work experience as a welder or as a Welding Instructor.
- Any AWS Certification or the ability to earn it in the first 30 days.
