About the position

The Welding Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production activities, ensuring quality control standards are met, and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. This role involves planning and prioritizing production tasks, coordinating with maintenance and quality control, and managing employee-related functions such as hiring and training. The supervisor will implement Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce waste while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Establish production and quality control standards with management.
  • Plan and prioritize production activities, balancing efficiency and cost considerations.
  • Coordinate production with maintenance and quality control to ensure optimal labor, machine, and equipment use.
  • Lead efforts to promote a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop methods and procedures aimed at reducing waste and improving product quality.
  • Adjust staffing levels and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Address workplace issues and support workers in achieving performance goals.
  • Develop strategies to motivate the workforce.
  • Manage employee-related tasks including hiring, training, work assignments, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions in line with company policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety regulations and addressing associate concerns.
  • Uphold company procedures and collaborate with human resources to resolve potential problems.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, tiered accountability, standard work, and Kanban systems to improve flow and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience supervising 10+ direct labor employees.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing; Six Sigma or Green Belt certification.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operating systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
