About the position

E! News is seeking an experienced writer/editor to join the NY digital news team in a hybrid role focused on weekend coverage. The candidate will be responsible for writing and publishing content daily, editing junior writers, and conducting interviews for E! Online. This position requires strong news judgment, an understanding of the E! audience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while utilizing data-driven analysis to inform content decisions.

Responsibilities

• Write and publish 5-7 pieces of content daily, including trending news stories, galleries, interviews, and breaking news.
• Work under tight deadlines to provide clean, clear copy.
• Edit copy for other writers, offering grammatical feedback and notes on style, tone, and fact-checking.
• Self-edit when necessary to ensure quality.
• Determine the strongest news stories to pursue on weekends and publish content efficiently.
• Identify and pitch stories, viral trends, and celebrities to drive conversation and engagement.
• Seek out clever angles, second beats, and attention-grabbing headlines.
• Analyze story performance using analytics to identify follow-up angles for increased engagement.
• Pitch and conduct interviews with celebrities, writing up the strongest angles in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the team to cover tentpole events, brainstorming lead-up coverage and writing articles in real-time during events.
• Work with the social team to promote content across platforms.
• Post on E! social when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in deadline writing, ideally in entertainment news.
• Excellent writing skills that align with the E! voice.
• Proficient in SEO.
• Strong news judgment and understanding of the E! reader's preferences.
