About the position

In this collaborative internship, you will have the opportunity to learn important skills and gain professional experience in the world of digital content marketing. Working alongside the college Website Manager, you will be exposed to a variety of content marketing skills, including content planning and creation, search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, and website analytics, and the execution and maintenance of a Search Engine Optimization Campaign for the college website. The position has the flexibility to be structured around specific skillsets or interests for the right candidate. Opportunities exist to concentrate on website analytics, digital marketing and outreach, content writing, or content management, design, and layout.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct keyword research for the editorial and marketing teams.
  • Optimize current website content for search engines.
  • Write keyword rich content.
  • Track website analytics to measure content performance.
  • Prepare and present website and search engine performance reports.
  • Identify and resolve 404 crawl errors and fix dead links, create vanity URLs and 301 redirects.
  • Create emails using html-based templates.
  • Complete basic website content requests from department chairs and offices across campus.
  • Prepare competitive analysis for peer institutions in our market.
  • Pitch website content, design, and layout ideas and assist with implementation.

Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at McDaniel College to apply.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of marketing concepts and principles.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems and basic HTML is a plus.
  • Tech Savvy with strong computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented with critical thinking skills.
  • Quick learner who listens and isn't afraid to ask questions.
  • Enough confidence to share your ideas, participate in team meetings, and take (or give) constructive criticism.
  • Writing, Communications, and Marketing majors strongly encouraged to apply!
