About the position

The Web Administrator position within the Department of Technology, Management and Budget is responsible for managing web application infrastructure for the Michigan Department of Education and the Center for Educational Performance and Information. This role requires a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, network, and security administration, along with excellent communication skills to prepare documentation and reports. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about public service and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Manage firewall rules, SSL certificates, and VPN groups.
  • Administer web and application servers.
  • Participate in IT projects for MDE and CEPI.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and team members.
  • Resolve problems in a timely manner and seek effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 21 semester credits in relevant fields or an associate's degree with 16 semester credits and two years of relevant experience.
  • Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.
  • Experience in VPN and web application management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IT project management.
