About the position

The Water Meter Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Automated Meter Reader (AMR) meters for residential and commercial water consumption. This role involves ensuring accurate meter readings, performing repairs, and maintaining water meter vaults, while also providing excellent customer service and adhering to safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Installs and troubleshoots Automated Meter Reader (AMR) meters.
• Performs tests to calibrate equipment for accurate water meter functioning.
• Reads and records consumption of water meters using computerized equipment.
• Troubleshoots and analyzes issues in the field.
• Installs new water meters and initiates new service as needed.
• Repairs leaks on water meters and performs pressure checks.
• Turns off or locks meters for non-payment.
• Replaces missing or broken water meter lids and boxes.
• Assists with repairs and maintenance of water meter vaults and lids.
• Works closely with the water office to understand utility billing needs.
• Maintains accurate records of work performed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Class C Texas driver license.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

• Water meter reading experience preferred.
