About the position

The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves monitoring equipment, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The operator will also handle various tasks related to the treatment process, including cleaning, operating machinery, and maintaining the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic rounds of inspections to check on equipment and procedures.
• Observe and record readings from equipment.
• Operate waste pumps.
• Operate and maintain press which separates solids from liquids.
• Clean weirs between settlement tanks and clarifiers.
• Wash primary and secondary clarifiers.
• Inspect aeration basins to monitor levels.
• Monitor flow rates throughout processing.
• Clean chlorine basin to assure disinfection of water.
• Remove residue from grease pits.
• Remove debris from filters, including inorganic materials, large pieces of trash and grit.
• Monitor chemical levels in tanks.
• Mix polymer.
• Operate dump truck.
• Operate front end loader.
• Operate skid loader.
• Change out chemical tanks.
• Repair facility equipment.
• Clean wastewater treatment plant building.
• Empty trash.
• Mow lawn at wastewater treatment facility.
• Operate weed eater.
• Apply weed killer at wastewater treatment plant facility.
• Remove debris and trash from wastewater treatment facility grounds and parking lot.
• Assist in maintaining security at facility.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 12 months of relevant experience in wastewater treatment operations.
