About the position
The WCC AmeriCorps Member position offers an immersive experience in outdoor environmental projects across Washington State. Members will work in various crew types, including restoration, trail, and spike crews, focusing on habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and ecological monitoring. This role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to network with natural resource professionals, all while promoting environmental justice and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Participate in habitat restoration and enhancement projects, including planting trees and shrubs and removing invasive species.
- Build and maintain trails, public camping infrastructure, and other recreational facilities.
- Travel around Washington State to complete restoration and recreation-focused projects, with food and lodging provided during travel.
- Engage in environmental research, community outreach, and ecological monitoring activities.
- Attend training sessions and participate in affinity group meetings.
Requirements
- Must be between 18-25 years old, with exceptions for military service or disabilities.
- No prior experience needed for crew positions.
- Preference given to Washington state residents.
