The Warehouse Automation Technician assesses mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls as needed to optimize operations, material handling systems and overall building conditions in SanMar distribution centers. These services include oversight of building maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair/replace, parts management and related vendor-involved interactions. The position requires working understanding of user interfaces, electronic controls and components related to conveyance and production-related automated systems. This role works closely with the Distribution Systems Technology and Solutions teams, DC leadership, and Material Handling services vendors and integrators to ensure solutions are maximized for stability, scale and performance. This role may supervise Facilities employees in the DC. This role is local to a SanMar distribution center, with potential for travel to support additional sites, train new technicians and DC staff, as well as to support Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and automation rollouts. What Will You Be Doing? Maintain facility systems including conveyors and related control systems (photo eyes, solenoids, light beacons, scanners, cameras, variable frequency drives, etc.). Replace and repair bearings, rollers, bands, conveyor belts, gear box, motors, air valves, lace and track conveyor belts. May supervise Facilities employees in DC; direct work and provide training as needed. Review schematics and troubleshoot basic panel indicators; utilize manuals to troubleshoot scanners, ez-logic, VFD’s, encoders, print and apply solutions. Review HMI reporting, clear jams (power down, lock-out, etc.) and fault conditions (motor overload, e-stop, power supply faults, etc.). Work closely with IT and DSaP staff, DC staff and Vendor Support/Service providers to diagnose and address concerns; communicate status and resolutions appropriately. Work closely with DC staff to train on MHE, loading, unloading, processes, orientation, quality control, and rates. Define and execute training programs for maintenance personnel and operators; create quality documentation on system functionality; preventive maintenance programs including maintaining an inventory of spare parts and managing warranty related replace/repair; issues and system log tracking. Comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements; maintain all required HAZMAT records including maintenance. Respond to management and internal customer inquiries; research and resolve problems related to a facility’s operational issues. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards.
