About the position
The Warehouse Associate position at Scholastic involves assisting in the production of book fairs by packing various products, including books and non-book items, into metal cases, boxes, and displays. This role requires adherence to corporate processes and procedures while meeting productivity and quality standards. The associate will demonstrate proficiency in packing all components and sub-components for the cases, boxes, and displays, ensuring that all outbound items are clean, safe, and in good condition. Additionally, the associate will assist in processing returned book fairs, monitor inventory levels, and learn basic scanner proficiency for item inquiries and replenishment requests. The responsibilities extend to picking and packing customer reorders, maintaining a neat and organized work area, and participating in seasonal inventory resets. The associate will also be involved in quality assurance scanning functions and assist in physical inventory counts. A critical aspect of the role is the careful handling of merchandise and the proper utilization of warehouse equipment to enhance productivity and safety. The associate must report any unsafe conditions or injuries immediately and comply with the drug and alcohol-free policy. This part-time position requires maintaining attendance and punctuality as per the assigned work schedule. The Warehouse Associate will work collaboratively with co-workers and maintain a positive relationship with customers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, and the role may involve operating motorized pallet jacks after completing the required training.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the production of book fairs by packing metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book products.
- Demonstrate proficiency in packing all components and sub-components for all cases, boxes, and displays.
- Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, or quality standards for the work performed.
- Ensure the condition of all outbound cases, boxes, and displays are clean, safe, and in good condition.
- Assist in processing returned book fairs by unpacking metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book products.
- Monitor inventory levels on applicable component product lines to ensure book fairs can be properly packed.
- Learn and demonstrate basic scanner proficiency for item inquiries and requesting replenishment of Pick locations.
- Assist in the picking and packing of customer reorders.
- Maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
- Perform seasonal inventory production-line resets individually and in partnership with co-workers.
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in all Fair Finishing and Assembly functions, including Quality Assurance scanning functions.
- Participate and assist in Physical Inventory functions, including counting inventory.
- Assist in conducting Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale Events.
- Carefully handle all merchandise at all times.
- Ensure proper utilization of warehouse equipment and tools to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report any unsafe conditions or damaged equipment immediately.
- Utilize proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects, climbing ladders, and pushing/pulling display cases.
- Accurately complete Labor Data Collection Cards according to company standards.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by the assigned work schedule.
- Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all co-workers and customers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate basic product scanner proficiency effectively with minimal errors.
- Strong team player with the ability to get along with co-workers.
- Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English.
