About the position

The Model/Anlys/Valid Officer is a strategic professional responsible for developing, enhancing, and validating risk measurement methods across various risk types, including market, credit, and operational risks. This role requires a strong understanding of model risk management and involves significant interaction with stakeholders, including model developers and regulatory agencies. The officer will also produce analytics and reporting to manage risk effectively, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, enhances, and validates methods of measuring and analyzing risk for all risk types including market, credit, and operational.
  • Manages model risk across the model life-cycle including validation, ongoing performance evaluation, and annual reviews.
  • Produces analytics and reporting used to manage risk for Citi's operations.
  • Translates operational requests into programming and data criteria and conducts systems and operational research.
  • Assists in the development of analytic engines for business product lines.
  • Communicates results to diverse audiences and packages analysis into detailed technical documentation for validation purposes.
  • Participates on teams to solve business problems and identifies modeling opportunities that yield measurable business results.
  • Provides guidance to junior validators as necessary and manages stakeholder interaction during the model life-cycle.
  • Represents the bank in interactions with regulatory agencies and presents model validation findings to senior management.
  • Assesses and quantifies model risk due to limitations to inform stakeholders of their risk profile.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in a quantitative role in risk management at a financial institution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
  • Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Practical experience using SAS or similar statistical coding software to build and test prediction models.
  • Comfortable interfacing with business clients and proficient in handling very large data sets.
  • Good knowledge of model development and validation testing techniques covering risk models.
