About the position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) at Adventist HealthCare Home Health in Silver Spring is responsible for providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients with various needs. This role involves conducting initial evaluations, developing and implementing treatment plans, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The OT will also supervise support staff and manage patient caseloads while ensuring effective communication and documentation throughout the treatment process. Responsibilities

  • Perform initial examinations and evaluations to establish diagnoses and plans of care for patients with rehabilitation needs.
  • Provide or supervise therapy interventions based on evaluations and treatment plans.
  • Involve patients and relevant parties in the planning and assessment of care.
  • Reexamine patients as necessary to evaluate progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
  • Plan for patient discharge in consultation with other disciplines, ensuring follow-up and referrals as needed.
  • Document all aspects of patient management and communicate effectively with the care team.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers.
  • Manage scheduling to accommodate patient load and inform management of any issues.
  • Attend team meetings to communicate patient status and collaborate with other therapists.
  • Engage in professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • 1 year of site-specific experience preferred.
  • Active Maryland Occupational Therapy License.
  • Valid driver's license with agency insurance requirements.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
