About The Position

Thomas Jefferson University's College of Humanities and Sciences is seeking to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology. This role involves teaching core undergraduate psychology courses and engaging in practice or research within relevant psychology fields. The position requires candidates to be prepared to teach specialized courses in areas such as counseling psychology, personality theory, clinical psychology, abnormal psychology, and/or developmental psychology. The standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester. A strong record of scholarship in the candidate's field(s) of expertise and demonstrated engagement in active student learning pedagogy are required. The candidate will also serve as a liaison with the master's program in community and trauma counseling.

Requirements

  • Research doctorate (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) or a foreign equivalent to a U.S. doctoral degree in Psychology or related field. ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Counseling and/or clinical experience and scholarship.
  • Teaching experience in counseling psychology, personality theory, clinical psychology, abnormal psychology, and developmental psychology.
  • A record of excellence in teaching at the university level.
  • A record of strong scholarship in the candidate’s field(s) of expertise.
  • Demonstrated engagement in the pedagogy of active student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core courses in the undergraduate major.
  • Practice or conduct research and scholarship in relevant psychology fields.
  • Teach core and specialized courses in counseling psychology, personality theory, clinical psychology, abnormal psychology, and/or developmental psychology.
