About the position

The Video Production Specialist at Baltimore City Public Schools is responsible for creating and managing multimedia content that showcases the district's goals, initiatives, and events. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to produce engaging video content for City Schools TV and other platforms, while also leading a team of student media volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Conceives, develops, and produces innovative video and multimedia content.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of City Schools TV, Channel 77.
  • Ensures regular airing of content and manages video volunteers.
  • Maintains media archives and an up-to-date archival system.
  • Oversees content published to the district website and social media channels.
  • Creates professional videos to promote district awareness.
  • Performs all aspects of video production including editing, lighting, and sound.
  • Collaborates with departments to determine production needs.
  • Directs and coaches on-air talent and staff for quality productions.
  • Trains others on the video production process.
  • Manages timelines and meets multiple deadlines.
  • Provides opportunities for students to learn about broadcast media production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five to seven years of related experience and/or training in video production.
  • Strong experience with video editing software such as Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Expertise in all facets of video production and web-based projects.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to carry equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.

  • Experience in an urban school setting.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise on the latest video production equipment.
  • Understanding of copyright and fair use laws.
