Victim Support Specialist-Kids Hope Center-PT

About the position

The Victim Support Specialist provides administrative support pertaining to direct victim services at the Kids' HOPE Center. This role is part-time, with a day shift schedule, and requires a minimum of 40 hours per pay period. The position is funded solely by federal grants from the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), and its long-term feasibility is contingent upon the Center's receipt of such grants.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support for direct victim services.
• Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location.
• Participate in quality assurance reviews, peer reviews, and case consultations.
• Demonstrate the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position.
• Exhibit the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally and with the public.
• Maintain confidentiality and think and act independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma with additional specialized college-level training in social work, sociology, corrections, or counseling.
• Minimum of six months of supervised direct victim advocacy or family support experience.
• Minimum of two years of responsible experience in community service providing direct client assistance or services.
• Current Oregon driver's license and valid automobile insurance.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Bi-lingual communication skills.
• Background in working with children and families affected by abuse.
• Experience and/or training in child development, mental health, psychology, social work, or related fields.
• Background in coordinating services for child victims and their families accessing Coos community resources.
