About the position

The Victim Services Program Assistant position at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office is a full-time role focused on providing ongoing support and assistance to victims and witnesses of crimes. The assistant will work under the direction of the Victim Services Program Manager, executing essential functions such as crisis intervention, documentation of victim compensation claims, and facilitating access to the criminal justice system. The role requires bilingual proficiency in Spanish and involves direct interaction with various stakeholders in the justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the delivery of supportive services to victims and witnesses, including crisis intervention and referrals to community service agencies.
  • Document and submit victim compensation claims in accordance with State Board of Control guidelines.
  • Provide information and assistance within the criminal justice system.
  • Assist in obtaining temporary restraining orders.
  • Transport victims and witnesses to court.
  • Maintain case records, restitution records, and other data.
  • Assist in the support and training of volunteers.
  • May testify in court as needed.
  • Interact with District Attorney, Probation, and Law Enforcement staff on cases, services, and technical information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in social or behavioral science, sociology, Criminal Justice, or Criminology.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher.

Nice-to-haves
