About the position

The Vice President, Strategy & Development at CRH Americas Materials will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the company. This position involves collaborating with senior leadership on acquisitions, divestitures, and growth investments, while also refining corporate strategy to ensure effective execution across various operations. The role requires strong leadership and analytical skills to manage complex projects and drive the company's growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end acquisition process including market analysis, strategic fit, due diligence, valuation, contract negotiation, integration, and post-closing issue resolution.
  • Develop and refine corporate strategy across businesses to ensure clarity and effective communication within operations and support functions.
  • Build rapport and partnerships with key internal and external leaders to execute on AMAT growth plans.
  • Manage and build a pipeline of acquisition targets and major capex projects through established relationships.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis to support acquisition and capex opportunities, providing clear recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Regularly interface with AMAT leadership, including the CEO, providing input on strategy and M&A matters.
  • Coordinate and align strategic initiatives and M&A strategy with other Strategy & Development teams across AMAT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA highly preferred.
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience in corporate development, investment banking, consulting, or private equity is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, particularly in financial modeling and assessing business risk.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with expertise in developing presentations and persuasive business writing.
  • Strategic thinking and strong financial, analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Project management skills for large and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Business acumen in manufacturing, distribution, and/or construction operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales, marketing, engineering, multi-unit operations, finance, purchasing, information technology, legal and regulatory compliance.
