About the position

The Vice President of Compliance is a senior leadership role within a well-established financial institution, responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the Credit Union's operations by providing compliance guidance, overseeing the compliance program, and ensuring that all products and services adhere to legal standards. The VP of Compliance will work closely with management and various departments to implement best practices and provide training on compliance matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance guidance to ensure adherence to all laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to the Credit Union.
  • Interpret laws and regulations to provide compliance guidance for the Credit Union.
  • Maintain and oversee the Credit Union's compliance program.
  • Communicate changes to existing laws and regulations to management and departments.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and monitoring of existing procedures and practices.
  • Manage the AVP - Compliance and Compliance Analyst to ensure job functions are performed accurately and timely.
  • Assist the Chief Legal Counsel and SVP - Legal with litigation, investigations, and complaints.
  • Review and evaluate existing and potential contracts with third parties.
  • Work independently and in a team environment to solve problems efficiently.
  • Oversee reviews of marketing materials for compliance with applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with business owners to ensure new products and services comply with laws and regulations.
  • Participate in the development of new products and changes to existing products to ensure compliance.
  • Present complex compliance requirements to all levels of Management.
  • Work with federal examiners and auditors during examinations to address compliance issues.
  • Provide training to staff and management in legal and compliance areas.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree from an Accredited College or University.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in a compliance-related field with management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • High level of integrity and adherence to confidentiality of Credit Union data.
  • Extensive knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations such as Truth in Lending Act, BSA, Fair Lending Laws, and others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Nice-to-haves
