About the position

The Vice President of Investment Grade Credit Sales is responsible for leading the US Credit Sales desk, providing a comprehensive suite of sales and trading solutions to institutional, corporate, and retail clients. The role focuses on maximizing client penetration and returns while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The VP will work closely with various teams to deliver integrated capabilities across multiple asset classes, manage investor relationships, and develop strategic solutions to meet evolving client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a markets-based suite of sales and trading solutions to Institutional, Corporate, and Retail clients.
  • Offer a full spectrum of integrated capabilities to deliver leading market insight, risk management, and execution services.
  • Provide competitive pricing to clients and seek out new opportunities with prospective clients.
  • Maximize profit while minimizing the bank's exposure and adhering to regulatory statutes.
  • Operate as a key member of the US sales team to maximize client penetration and returns.
  • Work closely with syndicate, sales colleagues, trading, and research teams to provide seamless client coverage.
  • Use expertise in fixed income financial markets to cultivate relationships with new and existing investor clients.
  • Institute cross-selling initiatives to increase ranking with clients.
  • Manage investor relationships and be accountable for the risk, profit & loss associated with the client base.
  • Build positive client relations through understanding client needs and aligning products/services accordingly.
  • Anticipate changes in client needs and provide strategic/creative solutions.
  • Recognize opportunities to cross-sell and grow share of clients' wallet.
  • Provide comprehensive account coverage and client development while actively prospecting new clients.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies in a professional manner.
  • Develop client-focused solutions based on financial expertise and client awareness.
  • Distill market and internal data to negotiate solutions with clients and internal counterparts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the client experience and deliver a full BMO experience.
  • Verify that all confirms on trades or sales are accurate and promptly delivered.
  • Communicate transaction details to the brokerage community and custodians, resolving settlement issues as needed.
  • Develop strong market knowledge to provide comprehensive service to clients and construct compelling recommendations.
  • Recommend business priorities and develop a roadmap for strategic execution.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the research & strategy team to understand their industries and impact investor clients.
  • Assist colleagues in the research and resolution of administrative/operational issues.
  • Understand the complexity of transactions and related risks.
  • Help colleagues with the presentation of information and prepare proposals for review.
  • Execute orders for purchase or sales of securities or complete transactions independently if the brokerage firm is a market maker.
  • Manage risk related to pricing and sales/trading of the book.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics; CFA preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of capital markets, pricing, and trading/hedging strategies.
  • Strong understanding of trading procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts.
  • Strong quantitative analysis, technology, and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong risk management skills and fundamental analysis skills.
  • Leadership abilities and seasoned professional experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing investor relationships and understanding of fixed income financial markets.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and make data-driven decisions.
