About the position

The Veterinary Receptionist plays a crucial role in the veterinary hospital, serving as the first point of contact for clients and their pets. This full-time position involves managing client interactions, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. The receptionist is responsible for various administrative tasks while also providing basic care for animals when needed.

Responsibilities

• Reliably report to assigned shifts
• Cheerfully and promptly greet and check-in clients and their pets
• Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar
• Answer phone calls and address client concerns
• Assist with medical record management and data entry
• Collect payments for services rendered
• Provide basic pet care, including feeding and walking animals
• Handle animal restraint when necessary
• Assist with laboratory procedures and sample collection
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of reception area

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic is required
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures is a plus
• Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly, professionally and compassionately
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including data entry and appointment scheduling, previous experience with Cornerstone Software a plus
