About the position

As a Veterinary Laboratory Technician at Friendship Hospital for Animals, you will be integral to maintaining the hospital's in-house laboratory operations. This role involves handling specimens, running diagnostic tests, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, all while working in a collaborative environment dedicated to exceptional pet care.

Responsibilities

• Handle, process, and run diagnostic tests on samples with precision and care.
• Follow all laboratory quality control, safety, and procedural guidelines, including OSHA standards.
• Operate and troubleshoot lab equipment such as IDEXX Catalyst, IDEXX ProCyte, centrifuges, and SNAP testing devices.
• Maintain and clean laboratory equipment to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
• Communicate test results effectively with hospital staff to support patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the lab and hospital team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field (biology, animal science, etc.) is often preferred.
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in veterinary medicine or healthcare, is a plus.
• Familiarity with laboratory protocols, equipment, and procedures.
• Basic understanding of lab safety, including OSHA guidelines.
