About The Position

Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ is looking for a veterinary assistant to join their busy Emergency department. This role offers an opportunity to work in a specialty and emergency hospital and learn how to become a technician. The hospital is a multispecialty practice with boarded veterinary specialists in various fields and has been treating felines with hyperthyroid disease with radioactive iodine since 2001. Requirements

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience is required
• Willingness to work varied hours and schedules
• Ability to take direction

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Provide support to doctors and technicians
• Restrain patients for exams and procedures
• Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing
• Monitor and document patient’s vital signs
• Assist with obtaining radiographs
• Properly use and maintain hospital equipment
• Perform medical math calculations
• Provide high level nursing care to all patients
• Administer medications
• Place IVCs and obtain blood samples from various access points
