About the position

The Technical Manager at Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem) is responsible for overseeing the technical operations at the Ingleside Plant in Gregory, Texas. This role emphasizes environmental protection, employee safety, and the development of management systems to ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards. The Technical Manager will lead a team, mentor members, and drive cost-saving projects while maintaining high productivity and product quality.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities.
• Ensure reliability of the work site and high-quality product through attention to detail.
• Develop management systems to assure compliance with PSM standards.
• Ensure plants operate safely and responsibly while achieving high productivity and low costs.
• Mentor and coach Technical Team members to foster professional development.
• Develop process control talent to maintain and improve plant control systems.
• Provide leadership for the development and implementation of cost-saving projects.
• Communicate the status of technical projects/issues and team accomplishments effectively.
• Manage all available technical resources to achieve plant priorities.
• Set vision and expectations for team members to ensure organizational success.
• Maintain or develop technical knowledge and skills of all team members.
• Develop and maintain an effective knowledge management system for technical documents.
• Manage Technical Department budget to ensure effective use and create value.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering
• 10+ years' experience in process engineering and process supervision preferred
• Technical and presentation skills
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interact and communicate on many levels of the organization
