About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Test Validation - Lab Technician to support the testing and validation of automotive wire harness systems. This role involves executing test procedures, operating specialized lab equipment, and ensuring product compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing on wire harness systems.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment including temperature and humidity chambers, thermal shock chambers, vibration shakers, polishing and grinding machines, push-pull testers, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
  • Collaborate with Wire Harness Business Units and engineering teams to develop and implement Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R), defining the testing strategy to validate product designs meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Set up appropriate testing environments and execute the validation plan.
  • Manage and track validation activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Collect and analyze test data, prepare and present detailed reports to Design Engineers or customers as required.
  • Develop and maintain testing standards in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Analyze test failure data and apply structured problem-solving techniques to create evaluation summary reports.
  • Perform continuous improvement activities and maintain documentation control in compliance with ISO/TS standards.
  • Ensure lab safety, equipment calibration, and cleanliness are consistently upheld.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a product validation or testing lab, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing sector.
  • Proficiency in operating lab equipment such as temperature and humidity chambers, thermal shock chambers, vibration shakers, push-pull testers, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret wire harness drawings, schematics, and test plans.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical and mechanical testing procedures.
  • Strong skills in data collection, documentation, and reporting.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, data entry).
  • Understanding of lab safety protocols and equipment maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with automotive wire harness validation or component-level testing.
  • Knowledge of DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) processes and how to implement them.
  • Familiarity with ISO/TS, ISO/IEC, or other automotive quality standards.
  • Experience in analyzing test failures and using structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives or Lean/Six Sigma practices.
  • Ability to communicate test results effectively to design engineers or customers.
