About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position provides coverage at our South University Medical Center from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays required. The Valet service aims to create a positive first and last impression for all customers, including patients, families, and visitors, by offering outstanding front-line customer service. The role demands professionalism and tact, especially when interacting with customers during stressful and busy times.

Requirements

  • Possess outstanding front-line customer service skills.
  • Exhibit professionalism and tact when interacting with customers.
  • Demonstrate self-confidence and the ability to remain in control amidst distractions.
  • Display empathy and a caring attitude towards customers under stress.
  • Ability to work outside in various environmental elements.
  • Ability to walk up to eight miles a day at a steady pace.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
  • Able to operate all types of motor vehicles using manual or automatic transmissions.
  • Good communication skills to deal effectively, tactfully, and courteously with all guests.
  • Perceptive to the needs of patients, visitors, and family members and seek appropriate resources when needed.
  • Positive attitude, ability to learn quickly, and adapt easily to change.
  • Possess good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment during unusual circumstances.
  • Possess good critical thinking skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Driver history must comply with Sanford driver qualification standards for insurability.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license.
  • Must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in a customer service environment is beneficial.
  • Health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients, families, and other customers by meeting and greeting them.
  • Park and retrieve customer vehicles.
  • Provide directions to visitors.
  • Assist individuals using handicapped areas.
  • Offer other reasonable services to customers.
  • Maintain the general upkeep of all valet entrances, both inside and outside.
  • Assist healthcare staff when discharging patients, which may include opening vehicle doors and loading personal belongings.
  • Create a favorable image of the Sanford campus through a warm and caring attitude.
  • Transport non-emergent patients and visitors within a one-mile radius of the originating medical care facility, if required.
