Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is a part-time position scheduled for daytime hours (9 AM - 2 PM) for a total of 25 hours per week. Shifts are Monday-Friday with no weekends or holidays required. The role involves possessing outstanding front-line customer service skills to create a positive first and last impression for customers (patients, families, visitors, etc.) using the Valet Service at any valet entrance. It requires demonstrating extraordinary professionalism and tact when interacting with customers during stressful and busy times, exhibiting self-confidence, and remaining in control amidst distractions. The position demands empathy and a caring attitude towards customers under stress. The ability to work outside in various environmental elements and walk up to eight miles a day at a steady pace is necessary. Valet services include assisting patients, families, and other customers by meeting and greeting them, parking their vehicle, providing directions, assisting anyone using handicapped areas, and offering other reasonable services. Valets are responsible for the general upkeep, inside and outside, of all valet entrances. When patients and visitors are ready to leave, the valet will retrieve the vehicle and return it to the customer. The valet is also expected to assist healthcare staff when discharging patients, which may include opening vehicle doors and/or loading personal belongings into vehicles. The role requires the ability to problem-solve and provide excellent customer service, and the capability to operate all types of motor vehicles using manual or automatic transmissions. The valet is expected to create a favorable image of the Sanford campus by demonstrating a warm and caring attitude towards patients, visitors, family members, and their vehicles, and be willing to extend a hand and welcome people. Good communication skills are required for effective, tactful, and courteous interaction with all guests. The valet should be perceptive to the needs of patients, visitors, and family members and seek appropriate resources when needed. A positive attitude, the ability to learn quickly, and adapt easily to change are essential. Good problem-solving skills are necessary, and if unable to answer a customer's question, the valet must use available resources to find the answer. The ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment during unusual circumstances and possess good critical thinking skills is expected. The role may require transporting non-emergent patients and visitors within a one-mile radius of the originating medical care facility.
