Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This part-time position is scheduled for daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays required. The role involves creating a positive first and last impression for customers using the Valet Service at any valet entrance. Valets display professionalism and tact when interacting with customers, especially during stressful times. They must exert self-confidence, remain in control amidst distractions, and demonstrate empathy and a caring attitude. The job requires the ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions and walk up to eight miles a day at a steady pace. Responsibilities include assisting patients, families, and visitors by greeting them, parking their vehicles, providing directions, assisting with handicapped areas, and performing other reasonable services. Valets are also responsible for the general upkeep of valet entrances, retrieving vehicles for departing customers, and assisting healthcare staff during patient discharges, which may involve opening vehicle doors and loading personal belongings. The role demands problem-solving skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to operate all types of motor vehicles. Valets are expected to create a favorable image of the Sanford campus through a warm and caring attitude, welcoming demeanor, and good communication skills. They must be perceptive to the needs of patients and visitors, seek appropriate resources when needed, possess a positive attitude, learn quickly, adapt easily to change, and demonstrate good judgment and critical thinking skills during unusual circumstances. In some cases, they may be required to transport non-emergent patients and visitors within a one-mile radius.
